Joining the Stapleford Choral Society

We are always pleased to welcome new members to the choir. There is no formal audition but we have a trial period (where no fee is payable) in order to see that you are happy with the way we work and also to make sure that the level of the choir is right for you. We sing a wide range of choral repertoire so you will need to read music to at least an elementary level and our aim is to improve the music reading skills of all members. Rehearsals take place on a Monday evening (7.45–9.15pm) in Stapleford. Regular attendance at rehearsals is important and we have a signing-in system. It is inevitable that members might need to miss a rehearsal from time to time and we just ask that the secretary is informed in advance.

A MIDI version of the music is made available to members. This is in order for you to practise at home and it also saves a lot of time at rehearsals where we can concentrate on achieving a really musical performance.

We give four performances locally each year, two in the autumn term, one in the spring and one in the summer term. Our repertoire has included Masses by Haydn, the Requiem Masses of Mozart, Brahms and Fauré and secular works by Vaughan Williams and Elgar.

If you would like to join us, please fill in the form below. We look forward to hearing from you.
